Australian People
Sydney Destinations

Going places these holidays? Explore Sydney culture, meet Australian people, get their (very) short stories, photographs and tips. Like Shirley's page on where to go for the best golf courses.

Meet the people and Sydney destinations most visitors never discover. Australian celebrity chefs at CRAVE, the annual October food festival, artists doing portable pop up displays or showing at one of Sydney's short film festivals.

Welcome to a different kind of Sydney visitors' guide.

Here's where Australians tell you their stories.

Where they live, what they do, what drives them and what they'd like you to discover about Sydney.

Read their very short stories, look at their photos, comment on them if you want.

(If you prefer something longer, have a look at the true story of Jorn Utzon, the Sydney Opera House architect).

And don't overlook Aboriginal art for visual stories of great power by indigenous Australians.

Begin a conversation, give your opinion or ask a question. There could be story starters here for your great Australian novel!

Just scroll past the invitation (or use it to tell of your Sydney experience if you've already visited) and come and meet some fabulous Australians.

What's your Sydney Story?

Do you have a story which will give visitors an insight into visiting, working or living in Sydney Australia?

It could be about things you do, how you spend your free time, places you like to go with friends or family.   Or about unusual things you make, aspects of your work or something you're passionate about.   Even a funny story about something that happened to you or that you've seen.

Share it! Our stories make Sydney come alive. We're so much more than one famous building.

Your story doesn't have to be long, but at least 500 words would be appreciated. Less is too short to make a page. If it's a good story, take whatever you need to tell it well - we'll read it!

And please include at least one photo (4 is the maximum).   It makes your story really come alive. A link back to your blog or website is also fine.

Just follow the easy steps below and your Sydney story will soon have its own web page.

What's your story about?   (give it a short title)
